Born this Way

I believe everyone has their own different ways in celebrating Hari Raya . And for me , although I had been celebrated raya like this before , I just realised that my raya celebration is different from other people . Ok , lets start with malam raya , and how I celebrate my raya for 17 years .

On malam raya , we usually peform our Isyak prayer together , and abah will recite the takbir raya . After that , we will do house chores like helping bibik in the kitchen , pasang langsir , vacuum rumah and what so ever , until 2.00 am or earlier . Rendang , ketupat yang dianyam sendiri , lauk lauk raya lain will be prepared .

On the first raya , again woke up , subuh jemaah and takbir raya . touch up apa yang perlu that morning , mcm sapu lagi ke , whatever , yang umi suruh . We will eat together , before abah went to the mosque to perform the raya prayer . And none of us will follow him to the mosque . I had tried once , but failed to do so .

So while waiting for him praying , we will get ready with our baju kurung , including bibik . As abah get home , boleh dikatakan semua dah siap kot ,and abah will again finish his work , like last year after solat raya , we waited like for 3 hours for him yang baru nak bersihkan kolam ikan dia pagi raya . Fuhh , mmg tak best gila .

After abah finish his works , we will sit at the living room , salam semua , bermaafan ( I don't really like this part ) We took some pictures together , like this year we spend almost an hour to take pictures , before we went to Kempas .

We went to kempas , paling awal pun 11.am , which as we reached there semua saudara dah balik , pergi kampung lain , yang ada pun 2 or 3 families . Tak meriah gila kan ? Haha . And we will go back after 2 or 3 hours there . So , balik je dah zohor and as we reached home some of us ZzzZZzz .

In the evening after asar we will go to abah's aunt house in larkin , every year , and went back nak dekat maghrib , which at night ada lah 2 family datang rumah . That is how my first raya will be .

Tipulah kalau aku cakap aku tak jeles tgk orang yang balik kampung 2 or 3 days earlier before the raya celebration , with cousins , prepared lemang , ketupat sama sama , pergi solat raya , pergi kubur pagi raya , I never done those things in my life as Kempas is situated about 10 minutes from my house . I had never went to the mosque to perform my raya prayer , atau pergi kubur ke apa . Never , once .

Kadang kadang aku rasa menyampah dengan iklan raya dekat tv yang tunjukkan semua benda tu , tahlah , jeles ke apa tak tau . Tapi aku rasa ramai lagi yang celebrate raya mcm aku , even worse . And for this year as we reached kempas ada 2 family je , yang lain semua dah balik , sedih kan ? :(

But , I feel grateful with what I have now , my family to be with . Memang aku tak pernah rasa raya balik kampung awal , jauh jauh . Duduk rumah nenek , layan tetamu semua , tapi aku still bersyukur with the way I celebrate my raya . Dan aku selalu fikir , yang Allah mungkin tak bagi aku rasa semua tu yang aku nak sekarang , sebab dia sediakan sesuatu untuk aku nanti . As He will never say no , and He will only say not now , or I have a better plan for you :)

promise me , one fine day , we will celebrate raya like you said before .
